How Does Adversity Shape Individual Identity

Adversity is the motivator of our society. Without adversity, a question then arises as to whether or not we, as people, would gain a better appreciation for the "better" days we have. The difficulties and misfortunes that we face in our day to day lives is what helps us appreciate life altogether. Adversity is different for every individual, and essentially what makes us unique; we all face trials but it differs depending on the person. The word adversity tends to be viewed negatively, but how does it shape our individual identity? The problems and struggles we face in our everyday lives mold and shape our character.
