Cultural And Historical Contexts:
1. I think it reflects the time because it was the beginning of pop art and Marilyn monroe was famous and lots of people around that time were doing lots of pop art of famous models and actresses. Many Artist were also doing pop art that were comic style and one of those artists are Roy Lichenstein.
2. I think that it reflects the culture because New York artists had been doing lots of Pop art and Andy Warhol had done the soup cans with screen printing on them. Andy Warhol was inspired to do this because of the death of Marilyn Monroe. This expresses the …show more content…
culture that was in New york at the time because lots of people were shocked by her overdose death.
Visual Analysis
1.I love how in this piece of Artwork Andy Warhol has used many different colours and shading to change Marilyn Monroe's face in each.
I also like the fact that Warhol has repeated the print many times. I think this makes a really cool effect with all of the colours in the painting.
2. I like how that andy Warhol has used screen printing and repeating the same print each time with everyone in different colours. I think that andy Warhol has used a range of colours in a different way that go together really well.
Personal Response
1.I like how all of the colours of the artwork complement each other. I like how andy Warhol has used the same print many times because it makes it really unique. This painting has colours that make me feel happy because all of them are bright and even the dark colours still contrast really well
2. I think that the bright colours in this artwork have made me want to do something with bright colours. This has influenced me because I want to make a mango and the colours are bright like they are in this picture. I really like the idea of making a mango and the bright colours influenced me.
Meaning and purpose
I think that andy Warhol made this painting to reflect the time that it was made as well as a sign of remembrance for Marilyn Monroe's death. This artwork would have been created as a painting that showed her
life.
2. The artist has created meaning by using many of the Marilyn prints to make arrangements of colours which could reflect the life that she lived because there are a lot of very bright colours and they may show her personality. The artist created meaning by using many of the same prints in different colours to make lots of different pieces of artwork from the one print.
