Firstly, both of them used ethos in their speeches. Brutus was only able to persuade the people by implying them to believe that Caesar was too ambitious just because he said so, whereas Antony had actual reasons to be believable. "Believe me for my honor and have respect to mine honor that you may believe... not that I loved Caesar less, but that I loved Rome more"(pg126:III:ii). Brutus, for a short while, convinced the crowd that Caesar was too ambitious and if he did not kill him, everyone would be slaves.
