The Fahrenheit 451 symbol I created is an atomic bomb with the tail of a book. This represents Montag because he spread knowledge and the importance of books to the society and it ended with the fall of the city. He knew the power of books and people hated him for it. The background is perfect blue skies with clouds because it shows how shielded from the truth people were in the society by the government. they don't even know anything about neighboring cities. “And across the world, thought Montag, how many other cities dead? And here in our country, how many? A hundred, a thousand?” (155) Everyone thought everything was okay and just another war until suddenly the bomb came and decimated everything around them and the intellectuals and montage…

She knows that Hero is innocent: “O, on my soul, my cousin is belied!” (4.1.155.133). She is furious with Claudio and wants him to pay for what he has done: “Ah, how much might the man deserve of me that would right her!” (4.1.275-276.141). She wishes that she could get this revenge herself: “O God, that I were a man! I would eat his heart in the market-place,” (4.1.320-321.143). However, she knows that she cannot do this on her own. For this reason, she tricks Benedick into agreeing to kill Claudio. Claudio and Benedick are best friends so when Beatrice first…

The book opens with a parable regarding mountains. Eli makes it well known that they are heavily disabled alongside various other identities. Using disability to represent himself, the parable of the mountain describes social class and structure as being a daunting mountain. Those at the top scream down to find a way up but it is almost impossible. Although individuals may begin the journey to the submit it quickly gets lonely. The individual has the option to continue climbing or return to their group. Even then that doesn’t account for hazards and changes in the path to the metaphorical summit. This metaphor sets up the remainder of the book brilliantly. Exile and Pride, following the mountain metaphor, is divided into two primary sections; home and bodies.…

In 2006, a great piece of literature was written, its name: World War Z by Max Brooks. This book documents the survivors of the World War Z apocalypse; while of course this book is fictional it draws you in and will at times make you feel like you are reading a piece of non-fictional literature. This is what fascinated me most by it. Not only did the book draw you in with its non-fictional fiction style, its theme draws on a central problem on us as humans today. We are ignorant, in whole or in part, regardless if there are many or few. It’s sad that we are that way today, from all the wars to all the bomb threats that are thrown around annually by almost anybody and everybody because its “fear” that runs us as a society today. World War Z by Max Brooks brilliantly shows this theme and expands on it to reach deep inside the human psyche to reveal our dark, segregated minds.…

George Orwell’s 1984 cleverly illustrates the dangers of totalitarianism. The story’s central character, Winston Smith, is faced with several challenges set forth by the ruling government, referred to as the Party.
