Now pilots must have 1,250 hours more experience for the same position at a air carrier. What this had done is steadily raise the cost of air travel for the consumer. The price per seat has risen due to the fact that pilots are making around $20 more an hour since the new law was enacted. This added with rising fuel costs has combined to create prices that are simply out of reach of many consumers. When a consumer as we know is unable to get to their dream destination due to the fact that the cost of transportation was to high, other parts of the sector miss out as well. The potential hotel the consumer who would have stayed at has now lost money as the guest never booked with them, the theme park they planned on visiting for a week never got their business. The list goes on. While many will still be able to afford this luxury, airlines my still have issues getting them to destinations. Once pilots are hired, Hospitality managers within the airline must oversee that they complete what is called and airline transport pilot certification training program, or ATP CTP for short. Once this course is completed with a passing score supervisors with in the company must enroll the new hires in a type rating program. In this program new hires learn everything there is to know about the aircraft, from electrical systems, hydraulics and performance of the aircraft, to learning about how to act as team to ensure a safe flight. While learning about the aircraft pilots gain their experience by flying realistic simulators. After a series of evaluations by an independent FAA certified Check airman pilots can then be signed off by an employee at the airline that they are ready to be put in a real airplane for additional training.
