I agree with John Stuart Mill’s when he states that happiness will come to you when you are not looking for it. People tend to look for happiness because everybody wants to be happy, so they believe that by looking for it they are going to find it. What they do not realize is that we do not necessarily have to look for it because if we keep living happiness will find it’s way to us without us even noticing. I also agree with the fact that by making others happy there is a higher possibility that you can achieve happiness. When you make someone else happy they will appreciate and acknowledge the fact that you have just made their day better and everybody likes to feel appreciated and acknowledged in some way and it gives you encouragement to doing it again and while making other people happy you also find yourself enjoying the feeling that comes along with it when you bring joy to the world. I disagree with the argument he stated when he said that we do not have to search for happiness. If someone decides to seek happiness they will find it and not just because they are looking for it means that they are selfish because they are trying to make themselves happy, but it is not impossible for someone to find happiness on their own neither is it the best way nor the worst way. Everybody is different and if you are trying to search for happiness and tend to find yourself failing you might just be looking in the right place. In many occasions this tends to happen and that is the reason people cannot find happiness because they probably do not want to be there, yet they are convinced that they have to stay because that is what will make them happy. I agree with the fact that instead of being happy we focus on other than happiness, for example doing something we love to do or the enhancement of mankind. We do not have to focus on making others happy if we choose not to or we do not find happiness doing it. By doing things you love to do for example, helping, donating, working, going to school, etc. even the simplest things can bring you happiness because you are focusing on something you love to do and by knowing that when you start your day you are going to do what you like most brings you satisfaction and happiness because you enjoy what you do. You do not realize how happy you are until you find yourself smiling every time you remember what you do and how much happiness it brings you without you having to go out and look for it.
You can achieve happiness by yourself just simply do not stop whether you are searching for it or not, simply remember that it will reach you and you will be happy like Carlyle stated “Every pitifulest whipster that walks within a skin has had his head filled with the notion that he is, shall be, or by all human and divine laws ought to be, “happy”.
If you have not yet found it you might have to keep looking for it or find help, use others. You can try different things to become happy, in some cases we cannot just wait for it to happen on its own, but in this case you can. If you choose not to, that is acceptable, but do not stop if you find yourself incapable of finding happiness you are probably looking in the wrong place. Ultimately, it is possible to achieve happiness if you choose to and when John Stuart Mill shared his point of view he taught us about some of the ways unhappiness can be achieved by not looking for it. Happiness is meant to happen and can happen whether you are looking for it or not. Every single human can and will feel happiness at one point it is just all based on them and the actions they make. Anyone can achieve happiness if they decide to it can be accomplished in any
way.
