How is true happiness attained? True happiness does not come from material things but believing in life that you did your best or gave your most. True happiness isn't a thing you can get simply by buying the nicest car or the nicest house. It’s about having a feeling inside that you are doing good for other people and yourself. Buddha once said, “you must let go of your desires to achieve happiness.” I find this true on a much smaller scale. It is okay to want things but there is a difference of buying things that you want vs buying things that you need. Like if you buy a brand new sports car is it something that you need or something that you want. Getting a new car may make some people happy but this is not true happiness it is a material thing masking your desire for friendships.
When he was greedy and grumpy; he had no friends, no people to love or value him. Until he began to share his wealth with his clerk. It made him so merry with the fact that he could buy his clerk and his family a massive turkey on Christmas. He also made up with his nephew with as much as an apology, a visit, and a change to become a better person. While the turkey was an amazing gift, the true happiness came when Scrooge had the feeling of truly giving and by giving he found friendship. It is not buying things so others think highly of you, Scrooge did not address his name to the turkey. Just the sheer fact of knowing his clerk was happy made him happy as well.
