How Does Melvin Burgess Use Language

Melvin Burgess uses language very powerfully in a variety of different ways. He uses very persuasive ways of changing the readers opinion but leaves it open a bit to you can still think what you want and kind of have your own opinion about the book but adds a bit of his own opinion. My first reason why Burgess uses language powerfully is that he said “Its’s getting colder and you know you’ve got nothing to lose.” This shows that one of the characters is in deep trouble when something is really wrong and that it just can’t get any worse. The bit where it says “It’s getting colder” this shows that things are getting bad or they are already bad. In addition to this the second bit of the text “you know you’ve got nothing to lose.” This shows that things can’t get any worse or that you literally have nothing to lose. This can make the reader feel bad for that person in the book or build an emotion with them to show how the feel. This could also change what and how the reader thinks about the character The second reason is about how Melvin uses different characters throughout the whole story. This can make the reader very interested in the whole story because if he uses only one character as “I” then the reader will get bored of the story and they might not
In other words he is saying that they do not have very strong emotions so for example they would give up on something that was a little too hard for them but normal people even if it was a little hard for them they would try again until they had done it. Finally this can make you feel bad for them and have a sad opinion about them because they might cry a lot and com on who would not feel sorry for a crying
