How Does Poe Create Suspense In The Pit And The Pendulum

In Edgar Allan Poe’s story, “The Pit and the Pendulum,” poe uses the elements of suspense, madness, and plot twist. But the whole story is based on Poe's life, (the guy they talk about) like how he was captured, and taken away and almost killed luckily he escapes. The story was clearly thought out. The author states that his life with his parents was rough ¨His dad rejected him¨ ¨his mother died at a very young age¨, However, when he got kidnapped by the Spanish inquisitions he was put in a dungeon, Then finally the last thing was when he was freaking out when they were trying to kill him with the pit the rats and the pendulum.
Firstly, he used suspense very well, When he was with his family poe kept us guessing by saying his parents hated
him. Secondly, he also used madness very well to by saying “He was going crazy in the dungeon and how he couldn't breath and how hungry he was. Finally, he also used Plot twist well to by saying the Spanish took him and put him in the dungeon nobody could have guessed that it was very well thought out.
Poe had a lot to do when he was stuck in the dungeon he had rats chew through his ropes he had to dodge a pendulum and he had to escape walls that were closing in on him. He is like Harry Houdini. But he had to do a lot to survive. A Lot of people couldn't do what he did. How he survived is really a mystery. He did a lot of crazy stuff like facing phobias and so much more. It was fight or flight with the pendulum
But The evidence supports my answers by telling them what happened, What fears he faced, And what he had to do to survive. So that is how my evidence supports my work.
