Our opinions and beliefs can range drastically, but one of the most gender biased, and morally upsetting differences is the varying views on sexism. Sexism is defined as a prejudice, stereotyping, or discrimination, typically against women, on the basis of sex. Sexism is society’s disease that they love to sell because it mixes people’s emotions and provides them with more money. Sexism is often broken down into two categories: misogyny and misandry. Perhaps the most common area that sexism exists is in the workplace. Women are discriminated against every day. Female lawyers are often seen as less intelligent and more likely to be emotionally attached or biased about their cases when they are compared to their male counterparts. Women frequently hear catcalls and receive unwanted sexual attention from men who work with them because they think it is manly and women cannot defend themselves. Ever since women have started working, our wages have been significantly lower than the money than men receive. Even though women now earn more money for the work that they do now, the difference is still too high. Many jobs require women to wear specific attire such as skirts, dresses, heels, and sometimes make-up. Men, in most cases, are allowed to wear pants and more casual attire than women. There are even some restaurants with specific dress codes for women that will deny women service if they are dressed too casually. Men are also discriminated against in workplaces. Even though reports of men being sexually assaulted, in any environment, are minimal, it does not mean that it does not happen fairly often. Men are frequently discriminated against by 'feminists' who
