Some see child labor as being useful and a positive experience for the child. They believe it will teach them responsibility and provide them with work skills to help them in the future. In reality, the children are thrown into hazardous conditions that affect their education, personal, and social development and puts their life and health at risk. Descent slavery occurs when people are either born into slavery or belong to a group that society views a being a slave caste. “In these societies there exists a strict hierarchy based along ethic and sometimes racial lives” (ASI). When a person is born into this type of slavery they have no control over their own lives. They become property of their master the moment they are born and sometimes the masters have been known for giving the newborn away as gifts and even wedding presents. Slaves are denied an education, not allowed to marry outside their caste, can’t own land or inherit property. In this form of slavery women receive the worst treatment just because they are female and of the slave cast. “Female slaves are frequently beaten and raped by their masters who consider them to be their property” (ASI).
