How Far Outweigh A Victim Mindset?
A victim blames everything and everyone but themselves for their own incompetence. They try to do “good enough” to get what satisfies them or someone else and do not try to think of alternate ways of solving problems that prevent them from doing what they need to do. A creator knows when they are in the wrong and will openly admit to it like a mature person would. They have no problem having to think of alternate ways of solving any problem thrown at them, and generally shoot for better than “good enough.” Both creator and victim mindsets have their benefits and their downsides, although the creator mindset’s benefits far outweigh the victim mindset as a whole. Someone I know personally with a creator mindset is Matt, one of my closest friends.

When I was in 7th grade I received a “C” on my report card for my algebra class, all because of a homework assignment I had gotten a “0” on. My excuse for not turning in the assignment was because “I couldn’t find my workbook.” My parents were very upset that I got a “C” on my report card due to the fact that they were already aware that the homework assignment was a zero, and that I could have turned it in late and still get a “B” on my report card that quarter. We were scheduled to have a conference with my algebra teacher to discuss my report card grade and why I had gotten it. Not long before the night of the conference my dad told me to find my workbook, but I ended up doing a sloppy job at it. I looked in the same exact spots I did before and just literally looking around for it, not moving the contents of my bag around or looking under and through things for it. He then told me to look through my backpack while he watched, and he noticed a huge problem in how I searched for it. He told me to pick my backpack up and dump everything out, and when I did, my algebra workbook fell right out all crumpled and worn because it had been sitting in the bottom of my bag the entire time. If I had had a creator mindset and thought of new and better ways to pinpoint my workbook, I would have been able to turn in the late assignment and earn a “B” on my report
