How Fathers Affect Their Daughter's Into Adulthood Summary
The mother-daughter bond is considered to be the most critical relationship a young girl can have, and many believed that mothers were naturally the more significant parent in a girl's life. Through studies starting in the 70’s and continuing on into the 21st century, we have learned this is not entirely the case. Fathers are fundamental to their daughter's life because they nurture confidence, show how a man should treat a girl, and help daughters prepare for the real world. In fact, daughters with fathers who are actively a part of their lives are able to get through college and can handle any work environment that is traditionally male dominated. The Institute for Family Studies article “How Dad’s Affect Their Daughter’s Into Adulthood” says, “Daughters who fathers have been …show more content…
As children, we, emulate and accept as reality, what we are shown by our family (parents). Thanks to the article by Psych Central “Daughter’s Need Fathers, too” I found several good points in the article on what fathers can do to be good examples in their daughter’s life, “1. Love her mother, 2. Show her that real men can negotiate differences with women, 4. Treat her the way you want her future partner to treat her.” First, let’s begin with the first point, “Love her mother”, fathers who retreat to the golf course, have affairs, and treat a young girl’s mother terribly set a bad example for their daughter. A young girl sees this will come to accept this way of being treated as reality if no one is there to show or tell her differently. This is how young girls can end up in abusive relationships, where they are mistreated and unloved. Another point, “show her that real men can negotiate difference with women”, is something not many think about. Men who can’t negotiate and compromise their differences with a woman are not the type man any woman should have to deal

In her book Longing for Daddy: Healing from the Pain of an Absent or Emotionally Distant Father, Monique Robinson, a pastor of women’s discipleship, explains that daughters long for something they cannot articulate— the need for a father, for his love “defines [her] femininity, shapes her character, affirms her identity, and validates her womanhood” (Robinson 120). Naturally, it is a father’s paternal obligation to nurture and care for his daughter’s emotional needs. Thus, when he neglects his paternal duty, his daughter’s emotional capacity becomes weighted down by negative thoughts that tell her she is unlovable. Therefore, she sets out in pursuit of love (Robinson 120). Consequently, without the support the daughter needs to positively influence…

Growing up with 3 brothers and I being the only girl was great for me. I was always daddy’s little girl and really enjoyed by childhood. My dad was the world to me and I always dreamed about being a mother some day and giving my baby the same love and attention that my dad would give me. I was always surrounded my love and attention and my wish was my command. My daddy always spoiled me, but at the same time he would instill in me the importance of respecting and loving everything and everyone. He always told me learning to respect and also earning the respect of people was very important because it would keep me mindful and make me remember to show proper appreciation towards others and towards things. He also felt that by having my heart open to love it would make me a better person and at the same time it would lead me to a…

To be a father is not hard, but rather to act like a father needs time to demonstrate that. The father is the main source of income and dominant provider of the family. He settles on the significant family choices together with mother and with the assistance of different individuals. This is the customary part of the father. Fathers and moms have novel contrasts that make them have distinctive child rearing parts, that when joined, give the most far reaching model to help the child grow effectively. Consequently, kids require both parents to help them build up the skills to help them assemble fruitful social relations, take part in dependable conduct, build up the confidence and abilities to be effective in school and to wind up…

Over the course of many years’ fathers are becoming more absent in their children's lives, for example “One out of every three children in America lives in a home without their biological father present” (Promoting Responsible Fatherhood,2012, pg2). This very alarming because research has shown that father present in a child life has more positive effects such as helping…

Throughout history fathers have been viewed as the masculine figure within many households, however, they are not always best at teaching their children how to love properly. Sometimes causing children to feel oppressed until a point within their lives that they are able to understand and exhibit freewill. Women tend to act on certain matters in life with their heart and not their head making decisions emotional based especially when considering love. Both “Rappaccini’s Daughter” and “A Rose for Emily” demonstrates patriarchal dominance and different but similar restrictions placed on their lives. In the short stories “Rappaccini’s Daughter” and “A Rose for Emily” both Emily and Beatrice (daughters) are products of a single fathered…

Gender-role impacts dramatically on girls in childhood. Besides, these influence lies in their subconsciousness, and also influence their rest of life. Family is the first group which girls live in. Therefore, mothers’ gender role creates girls’ gender-role by the conversation or interaction between their fathers and mothers. In the conversation, mothers always use more words of emotion to express what they feel, and speak more politely and indirectly. Girls start use words of feelings when they are two, and they imitate their mothers’ conversational style at four. Besides conversation, mothers’ interaction and behaviors make the same impact on girls. Wives should put more attention on home, decicate for their family more, and they…

When it comes to parental influence in a child’s life that ends up being a large factor as to how they grow up and act. For example, parents tent to feed into the general sexist roles such as the woman being in the kitchen most of the time and the father is always at work. The children see this and learn from it thinking this is how my life is supposed to be. Also, parents tend to be the leading factor in gender roles because of the fact that that is how their lives are being lived.…

Growing up as a child, we are always told by our parents to understand right from wrong. Parents play a large role in children’s live emotionally and socially. The more a parent interacts with a child could have a greater impact on how the child succeeds in life. Take for example, a girl that has grown up seeing her mom abused will tend to bring that type of behavior into her own relationships as well. Either she will let the abuse happen or she will become the abuser. In her mind it will become the norm for her life. Until she gets the help she deserves, she will maintain this for the rest of her life.…

On global rating scales mothers indicated higher levels of warmth toward their infants if the infant was a girl (Sear, Maccoby, Levin). If this is truly the case, mothers are nurturing closer relationships and a greater sense of continuity with their daughters than with sons. Research by Benenson, Morash, and Petrakos (1998) provides evidence that girls are more emotionally involved with their mothers than boys. Over time, women maintain their connectedness with their mothers, whereas men 's maternal attachment decreases. (Calloni and Handal). Boy and Girls form different emotional relationships with their primary caregiver based on their gender ( Chodorow).…

Also, girls are vulnerable and emotional. One of the major causes of father’s lack of impact on daughters is isolation in psychology and physics. In one family, due to the hard nature of fathers, daughter finds her mother reliable to talk about love and puberty symptoms. Of course, the father holds no right and knowledge over those subtle matters. In consequence, fathers and daughter’s relationships are not as close as mothers and daughters. That’s reason why, mothers exercise more influence on their daughters.…

Secondly, a father is the second eye in the same body. Men are required to be responsible for their families and carefully monitor their family needs. I wont exaggerate if I say fathers are the strongest element in this relationship for several reasons. One of which is the fact that when moms, suns, or daughters start to stress out or get tired of something or even face an obstacle, usually they talk to Men fathers or husbands. A father keeps his family chain strong and well connected by being the provider of the house. Being their any time any member of his family needs him, fathers are in fact the strongest connecting bond in this relationship.…

It is definitely possible for a girl to grow up without an actual mother. A girl will most likely be able to adjust to being raised by only a male figure in the house. Some men may be perfectly capable of providing the necessary care for their daughters, but girls still need a woman to be able to run to for guidance. She needs as many caretakers and positive influences as possible. It’s only logical for a man to make a boy into a gentleman and a woman to make a girl into a lady. Everyone the girl comes in contact with should set a positive example for her to follow. Even though a man could technically raise and care for a girl, there is no way he could make up for all of the ways a mother would provide for her daughter. The way men think is vastly different than the way women perceive things. A man simply cannot begin to understand what it’s like to be a woman. The nurturing a father is able to provide will…

We all see those little girls who are connected to their father’s hip, and no one could ever compare to him in her eyes. That was never me. I was never a ‘daddy’s girl’. For a while I took pride in that, but as I started to grow up it became less special to be so independent.…
