It’s not surprising to see that most of the high school graduates are unprepared for college or work, even after more than 13 years of preparation they still lack many skills that are essential for the real world. Teachers have many tasks that include preparing for end of the year assessment, grading work on time, following lesson plans, covering all topics needed for exams, along with countless more. Although most teachers comply with their responsibilities and cover all objectives needed for the year, many student still perform badly. If a student fails, the teacher did a poor job teaching, however if the student passes then he did an excellent job. However the students’ performance cannot be explained by whether or not the teacher did a good job. It is the students’ fault, almost in all classrooms the teacher will struggle with at least one kid who refuses to work. Through the whole year the student would sit in the class without ever taking out a pencil. The student’s lack of effort has caused many schools to force teachers to help them pass their classes. One case even resulted in an assistant principal forced a teacher to “illegally change the grade of a student athlete to keep him eligible to play sports.” From having to grade work that is weeks late to having to let student retake tests and quizzes, teachers’ priorities is now passing their students, instead of the skills and materials they need. It doesn’t matter if a student skips continuously because they could just do attendance appeals to get the credit, or if they fail a class they could complete the “make up” packet to pass the semester. Because of these things that are being done to “help” students, they are now incapable of working hard to earn their
