How I Succeed In My Upper Division Courses
Please describe how you have prepared for your intended major, including your readiness to succeed in your-upper division courses once you enroll at the university?

I have always been committed to a caliber of excellence in my academic work. When I was young my parents instilled in me a will to succeed and a drive for success, and these have helped me to succeed in my academic, personal, and professional life. I have prepared for my intended major by enrolling in classes that will educate me about my intended field, speaking with available professionals, and by doing independent research into the areas of my field I am working towards. As a second-year student I am already taking upper division courses at my institution of study, and both my professors and peers are impressed with the quality of work I produce. I am ready to succeed in the upper division courses at the university because I have already been doing upper division work, and am excited to learn as I work towards a profession in my intended field.

I have taken advantage of my school’s unique location - not only in London, but as an International school - to connect with and learn about people and cultures I may never have encountered. University has always been a place to develop and share different ideas, but by going halfway across the world I have not only been introduced to a range of different perspectives, I have also been able to develop my own more completely. In addition, working in London has introduced me to such a variety of people I would not have met had I gone to school in a different location. Overall, attending a university in a different country, and in such a popular city, has allowed me to experience a more complete sense of diversity, and to develop a more “global” world

Living so close to such a major city in the United States, I was interacting with people far different from me on a daily basis. I know families from a multitude of different cultures, racial heritages, and families with widely different economic statutes. Choosing to attend the University of Illinois certainly continued the path towards learning about and interacting with different people as well. My school has plenty of international students, exchange students, and professors from multiple countries and cultures. I have been exposed to different types of people my entire life. I have not only met different types of people, but also formed friendships and close personal relationships with people who were different from myself. I have found that these differences have posed no barrier to forming relationships and getting to know and value them as…

In terms of my educational goals and my current skill level, I have yet to fully comprehend my skill level as a student. I know I am very capable of growing into a self reliant achiever. I can see my limitations clearly and seek to hone in on my strengths as often as I can while maintaining an awareness of the progress that needs to be made in my scholastic achievements. An educational goal I have is to complete my Master's degree before I am 40 years of age. I will have to infuse my very being with the attitude of an enthusiastic beginner and in so doing transform myself into the self reliant achiever that I truly am. My guidance counselors will help me most of all to believe in myself and to follow through. I can maintain regular communications as a means to further my growth as a student. This will insure that I am able to thrive while in school.…

Even though I have not really traveled abroad before, there is no doubt in my mind that I will be able to adapt to any differences in London. Something that I think that I can contribute to the London program is my love of learning about other cultures. All my life, I have had friends from different cultures: Chinese, Indian, and Pakistani to name a few. When the opportunity arose at Babson, to learn more about these cultures through enrolling in the course South Asian History, I took it. One thing I have found at Babson, is while we talk about the importance of a global mindset, few people actually take the time to understand other cultures and appreciate them.…
