Being independent is another trait that John and I show how we are similar.
John and I both show in many ways how we are independent. John never really relies on anyone in Salem. He mostly does everything on his own because he can. In “The Crucible”, John tries to save his wife Elizabeth. While doing so, he does not have any help. He argues her case but he ends up failing and gets himself arrested instead. In my life, I strive to be independent. I tend to do everything by myself because I don’t like asking for help. I don’t let people help me in order to learn that there won’t always be someone around so I try to be independent with my life. Both John and I are very independent just trying to make it on our
own. The last trait that John and I relate to is we are hard working. John Proctor is a very hard working man. In “The Crucible”, he is always working at home trying to get everything done. Even though working on Sunday’s is a sin, he works because he has to take care of his family. In my own personal life, I have tried to be as hardworking as John. I always make sure my school work is done and try my hardest to make sure my grades are good. At work, I try my best to get the job done right and fast, just like John does when it comes to his family. John worked hard to free his wife and though he failed, it shows that he is dedicated and truly is hard working just like me. Being an outcast, independent, and hardworking are some character traits that John Proctor and I share to consider us the same person. Since John and I have the same traits, I feel both would have reacted in the same way as he did during the Salem witchcraft trials.
