In this story Doodle fights for Reno and his freedom to be who they want to be without being bullied. It also has many ties to real world problems. While not as many as Martin Luther King’s speech it still pointed out how people are judged and cannot be themselves. Another unique thing is that Doodle was set in a more realistic standard by being something that could happen but did not actually in real life. In this story Reno helps him throughout the story even though he also made fun of him. Reno repays him by trying to help him and Baumgartner helps by scaring the bullies away.
