"You were brought into this world for a purpose, and your futures, all of them, have been decided." In the novel, Kathy, Tommy and Ruth spend their first 16 years at Hailsham, a arcane boarding school that secluded from the outside world. There, they could vaguely apprehend that they were special to the normal people outside. Not knowing their meaning of lives, they were terribly anxious about searching of their own values. A lot of time, students at Hailsham were having an ardent belief that "how much you we're liked and respected, had to do with how good you were at creating." Tommy was being bullied and derided in his whole childhood as he had not been a great artist; all the students were working on their artwork sedulously as they were yearning to have their pieces selected for the gallery. These perverted behaviours evidently revealed that the way students perceive themselves was built on the opinions from others, and how desperately they wanted to seek recognition and acceptance. …show more content…

    It shows how the teachers interact with students, and how students react with the teachers. In that meager setting at Oakcity High School with Mr. Bartlett, he doesn’t cater to students needs. He does things in a strict basic formatted setting because “...on any job they get outside of school, there’s going to be a certain formats they must follow to be successful on the job.     At a glance, both protagonists (Jack, from This Boy's Life, and Anne, from Limbo) appear to have very little in common. Jack, the only child of a single mother, is desperately attempting to develop his identity while he lives an unstable life in which he is constantly uprooted and moved form city to city as his mother searches for a way to support him. This perpetual motion is sharply contrasted by Anne who grows up in a small Catholic town in the Wisconsin country. There, she is given an identity in the form of her faith in God.     In the book, it talks about people going into World War 2. In Chapter 13 Gene says “The Jeeps, The Troops, The Sewing Machines, were drawn up next to…” (Knowles 197). This shows the environment they were in, it was all war necessities, and machines to help the soldiers in the war. This showed that this fear that characters were in and shows how this helps them learn more and eventually reach the point where they have came of age.     In today’s Western culture, it is hard to imagine a world without education. Adults and children alike view education as a common practice that is essential to everyday life. For Lily Moya, this is not the case. In Not Either an Experimental Doll, edited by Shula Marks, letters of correspondence reveal a relationship between Dr. Mabel Palmer, a well-known European supporter of black education, and Lily Moya, a girl growing up in apartheid South Africa. Lily writes to Palmer requesting acceptance into a school. Due to Lily’s amusing writing style, Palmer feels a connection to her. In turn, Palmer decides to find a way to fund Lily’s education. Throughout the letters, Lily alludes to this idea that she desires a more intimate friendship with Palmer; however, Palmer continues to assertively state that the relationship Lily seeks is impossible. In the end of the correspondence, Dr. Palmer releases her sponsorship from Lily’s education which means Lily can no longer attend school. For these two reasons, some critics will argue that Palmer is to blame for Lily’s mental breakdown at the end of the book. These people are mistaken; Mabel Palmer’s actions are not to blame for what happens to Lily. Fault lies in the differing cultures between Lily and Palmer, and in Lily’s stubbornness, egocentrism, and her inability to follow simple instructions.…

    Much like humans, clones spend most of their time daydreaming, imagining how their futures will be like but are held back by society’s rules. In the case of clones, they believe that their possibles may predict their outcomes.     Many of the concepts relate to psychology, and the fact that these kids are in the stage of adolescence. First off, one of the main concepts that I saw in this movie is that all of the kids showed the use of “false selves.” This is where an adolescent tell lies about themselves that they want people to believe so they think better of themselves, because “the other kids will never find out.” They lie a lot about their background and many other things such as their virginities which is a major thing in younger kids’ lives that decides whether they are a “prude” or a “slut.” Another concept that I saw, is the influence of peer pressure. These kids went through a lot of peer pressure in this movie including when the kids were talking about themselves, and wanting to know things about each other.
