How Life Was Before August Was Born
Interviewer: Hello fellow book readers, I’m here with Olivia Pullman from the book Wonder. She is August Pullman’s older sister. Welcome to the show!
Olivia: Thanks for having me.
Question1: In the story, you told us that your parents said you were the most understanding daughter ever because they are mostly paying attention to your brother because of his special needs. Can you explain how that makes you feel?
Answer: Ever since Auggie was born, there was no point for me to complain. Seeing him after his surgeries, I could only imagine the stress my mom and dad were put through. All the bills they had to pay, signing so much paper work and most of all making sure Auggie was okay. It is just one of those situations that you know what to do and what not to.

Answer: I don’t really remember life before then to be honest. I look at pictures every now and then from when I was a baby but they don’t seem to look right without Auggie in them. To me it feels like he has always been in my life. …show more content…

Why did you think you felt that way?
Answer: Wherever we went with August people were always starring or kids were whispering to their parents saying “Mom, why does that boy look so scary”. It made me so mad that I would shot that person a dirty look or even yell at them. I remember at the grocery store once I yelled at a worker for getting all big eyed at him. So those four weeks with Grans was I guess like a break for me. During that break, people didn’t stare or nothing at Grans and

    Sonny's Blues Summary

This is an interesting story of how your brother got off on the wrong track and it caused you guys to grow apart. Good job with the opening. It captures the audience's attention, I like how you started with a question and listed the variety of feelings that you had felt. I think you did a good job at clearly and correctly introducing the short story “Sonny’s Blues” and giving a short summary. Your point in telling the story is clear; you want to let the readers know how important family is and how you should always be there for them. You used a lot of good details by giving the reader background knowledge on how the problem with your brother all started. I think you provided lots of details and I did not see anything that you needed to elaborate…

It's been over six months since Willie first came to live with me. I can't believe that he was the same thin and sickly-looking boy that I was obliged to take in for the war effort. Yes, he was a very sickly child and couldn't take the slightest bit of nutritious food. But the truth is, I quite enjoy having someone else around other then Sammy and watching him change into a boy that is full of self-confidence, healthy and most importantly, happy. It's been great seeing him mix with the other children here and of course Zach too. The first day he came back from school, knowing that he was upset because he wasn't in the same class as his friends, teaching him to write his name and telling him stories from the bible are some of the great memories I share with him. Just recently, I realised that is not just Willie that has been changing because I think I have too. When I found out that Willie liked to paint, I had gone into the crafts store to get him some paints and paper for his birthday present, it was the crafts store I had avoided for over 40 years because the memories of you are just too strong. That just shows how much Willie means to me. After all this, a letter came, it was from his mother saying that she's been ill and she wants him back for a while. I really don't understand, the boys mother hasn't written for 6 months, not mentioning that she didn't send anything for her own son's birthday. I'm really worried now, I know I can't hesitate now, after all the kid has his own mother and I have to follow his mother's wishes.…

    (A) Charles Wallace is different from most five year olds in many ways. For starters, he is terribly shy and doesn’t talk around unfamiliar people-giving him the reputation as a “dumb baby brother”. His shyness is not the only reason he is considered unintelligent but his lack of language until he was 4. Charles is also different because he is very fluent in English and talks like an adult. He also has a gifted sixth sense to be able to read his sister’s and mother’s…

Attention. With a large amount of my parents attention focused on my academics and theatre and my little brothers athletics, my older brother was often overlooked, as one does not receive awards for being kind and funny. Acting out was an attempt to grasp their attention and consequently their time. This viewpoint causes me to feel empathy for my brother. No matter how I hate the fact, a large portion of my life is dedicated to seeking attention, mostly from my parents, whom I strive to please. I empathize with my brother because I see his want for my parents approval in myself and this causes me to realize why he did the things he did. The empathy I felt for him caused me to bring him food, clothes, and money, just to help him stay on his feet. This year, he has turned his life around and he is more kind and compassionate than he has ever been. Empathy is a powerful emotion and I am grateful that I felt it for my brother, for without it, I have no idea how rocky our…
