After Odysseus fought in the Trojan war for 10 years he started home and had to face many battles. While he was going through these battles he had to risk some things to get home safely. One of those lessons was either him and all his men die all at once with the boat or he loses six of his men. “Better to mourn six men than lose them all, and the ship, too”(Homer 12.70). This happened with Scylla and Charybdis when Odysseus was trying to get back home but didn’t want to be seen by Zeus. Another lesson happened when Odysseus got home. He could of walked into his home and killed the suitors then and there, but he waited for the right moment to do that. The Odyssey relates to grownups in 2015 because they have to go through life lessons like Odysseus has to.
Some of the things that grownups have to go through that are like Odysseus are families that have family issues like they are divorced and only one of the parents has custody. Being a grown means that you have lots of responsibilities like your kids and bills and a good paying job. Sometimes things don’t go the way you plan and you have to do something differently to make it work, and that is what Odysseus did. When he was going home, he had to do different things and take risks to get back home
safely.
