The chromotography project was left open to variation and interpretation from team to team. Initially, my team struggled with the many choices for markers and filter paper and our choices may have affected our results. For example, we had the choice between a coffee filter and a circular piece of filter paper. We originally chose the coffee filter but we thought the creases in our paper would distort our results. After finally deciding on the circular paper and cutting it into a rectangle, I placed it in the beaker to see if it fit properly. Unfortunately, I did not notice that the beaker had water in it and had soaked the edge of the filter paper. Although I do not know for sure, this may have altered our results. Since a piece of the paper…

One situation in which I might want a lower p-values is if I was conducting a test with nurses in identifying if wearing slip resistant shoes prove to be more beneficial then other shoes when it comes to reducing slip and fall injuries on the job. A small p-value (typically ≤ 0.05) indicates convincing evidence and allow you to gain a greater sense of confidence against the null hypothesis (Gerstman, 2015). In this case, I would want a small p-value to prove that slip resistant shoes do hinder slip and falls. If I have more nurses wearing slip resistant shoes and less reporting of incidents then my test would be proven as accurate.…
The point of doing this project is to use paper chromatography to see which dyes are used in the coatings of your favorite colored candies. Chromatography is a technique for separating mixtures. Chromatography can be used to separate specific components from a complex mixture, based on molecular size or other chemical properties. It can also be used to identify chemicals, for example crime scene samples like blood, drugs, or explosive residue. Highly accurate chromatographic methods are used for process monitoring, for example to assure that a pharmaceutical manufacturing process is producing the desired drug compound in pure form. With colored mixtures in paper chromatography, you can see the components separate out on the paper. A mixture of various components enters a chromatography process, and the different components are flushed through the system at different rates.…
In short story Permanent, the author introduces a storyline in which a young girl chooses to cheat on a math test that she was unprepared for instead of taking the failing grade she knows she will receive. The student decides to scribble notes onto her palm with a permanent marker, and later discover the consequences of cheating. The short story presents a metaphor–the permanence of cheating is similar to the permanence of a marker. The permanence of the marker is made more into a metaphoric meaning when the author writes, “Later, in the girl’s bathroom, you scrub the palm of your hand in the sink. When your hand is raw, you turn off the faucet, but the permanent marker remains” (Irvin, 1). The phrase ‘the permanent marker remains’ suggests…
The object on which the print is located can be dipped in or sprayed with a ninhydrin solution, which reacts with the oils in the print’s residue to create a bluish print. One of the drawbacks of using ninhydrin is that the reaction is very slow, often taking several hours for the print to become visible. To accelerate the reaction, the object containing the print can be heated to 80 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit (Thompson,…

Most people in school, particularly the students and the teachers, needs markers for our reports, projects, and etc. But one of the problems in using markers is they ran out of ink easily. Because of that, we need to buy again a new one, since no one or no store sells refill inks for markers. But the question is- how can we make refill ink for our markers in a cheaper way? Can our natural resources help us in this situation?…
- When you write with ink on paper, the ink and paper unite in a chemical reaction so that you can't erase it. Specialized inks allow a short period where you can erase some inks, but most inks dry and can't be erased; they have bound with the paper. This includes your pen and your ink jet printer.…
Graffiti first got its name from the Roman Empire, when it applied to ‘writing on the wall’. In the late 1960’s political activists first used tags to make statements or mark territory. When the 70’s started, pioneering graffiti artists were writing their names on subways, trains and city walls. New York City was a haven for this graffiti, and it is found wherever you walk around the Big Apple. As artists tried to enlarge their tags, they discovered that the regular aerosol cans could not make the writing to scale. They discovered that highlighting the outlines of their signatures made more notable signatures, and enhanced the look. Soon they adopted other nozzles from different aerosol cans. This was a turning point for graffiti, and these methods are still strongly used in today’s graffiti and art.…
Results of the test showed that the experimental ink with a proportion of 200 grams nipa palm fruit husk, 100 ml distilled water, 1 gram ferrous sulfate and ½ tablespoon of salt and ½ tablespoon of vinegar produced an output with the highest conductivity and transmittance time, drying time and luminance and adhesion.…
