How Pfc Changed My Life
Throughout PFC I have learned and gained many new important factors in life whether they are new skills to lifelong friends. Being in PFC has exposed me to new ways of learning and becoming a better leader in the future. From the beginning, I have inherited new skills through the trainings conducted and last minute conflicts on the freshman days of service I have been a part of. The trainings were not just a way of torture, waking up on Saturday mornings dragging myself to work so I can sit there for four hours just to listen to someone talk and instruct us on what to do. Those trainings were another way for us all to get together, learn about each other’s qualities, and being able to deliver to the program to creating a better community for …show more content…
Not only for my projects, but moving ahead in life. Believing I can walk through new doors full of amazing opportunities in which I can create new beginnings for myself. Becoming decisive and making the right choices in life. As I have inherited skills from others throughout PFC, I have also delivered. I contributed to PFC by becoming more professional and putting my leadership skills to work. Being there for my fellow coworkers and helping out one another. Also, I have created and even more welcoming and exciting community within PFC not just for myself but others as well. Whether we would be just sitting tabling waiting for students to pick up shirts to working inside the office trying to keep it quiet, we have always had our major load of fun. Interacting with each other not only inside the office and on campus, but off-campus has brought closer to each other knowing we can rely on each other when it comes to anything. Each and every one of us has left a special mark in each other’s lives. When it comes to improving on something, I believe I could have at times put my personal situations aside from my

Throughout the program, we were taught these values, "Integrity first, service before self and excellence in all we do." I had multiple opportunities being placed in leadership roles to lead others within the corps. From this, I learned that you're accountable for everything you do, and you have to own up to your mistakes no matter how bad the repercussions will be. AFJROTC also includes numerous community service projects and not only did I give back to the community with over 150 hours of community service, but I also gained the trait to be…

Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) program can be a four-year journey of life changing experiences that build character and leadership. I was a freshman when I first join JROTC, and I wasn’t sure what to expect. Throughout my student life being a cadet, I was challenged physically, mentally, and emotionally. But I was able to learn more about teamwork and leadership. The curriculum consists of practical exercises that directly target an individual’s leadership and character. JROTC has taught me what I would not have learned in any other class in high school. Cadets have overcome fears and have formed lifelong friendships and unforgettable memories. Overall, they have found JROTC has molded a sense of character within them just as it has for me.…

On May 7th 2006 I had just graduated Ranger school with my best friend in my platoon. We had both started the school as PFC’s and were immediately promoted to specialist after graduation. We also were moved into team leader positions as soon as we arrived back to our unit. At this point in time most of our platoon has been deployed at least once, either to Afghanistan in 2005 or the initial invasion of Iraq in 2003. Upon our arrival back to our unit we immediately went into training and preparation for our upcoming deployment to Iraq. The unit was set to deploy in November to replace our sister unit operating out of COB Speicher near Tikrit.…

Taekwondo in combination with attending two academically rigorous high schools, AAST and SCGSSM, have prepared me mentally and physically to take on the many challenges I have faced. Whether that has been preparing for a Linear Algebra, Micro-Molecular Biology, and Computer Science test the next day or creating a community engagement project to help reduce the crime and obesity rate in our local community - I got it done. My experience at the Governor’s School has taught me how to lead a student body of about 250 students in order to achieve a greener campus and a reformed living and learning environment. Though many of these experience hardly scratch the surface the responsibilities and skills of being an Infantry Officer, I believe they are the first steps to achieving this…

One moment I had that I will never forget is when my friend Libby Bridges who is another teen in PFO, was sharing HER impactful moment to the leadership team. I was sitting there and listening to her talk about how she used to be afraid that she will never make an impact on the world. Libby is a person that I really look up to in PFO. She shows impeccable leadership skills and she has the kindest heart. To hear her talk about her fears and watching her be so vulnerable makes me start to cry. In this moment I realized how surrounded by love I was, and how grateful I was for the opportunity PFO has given me. PFO has given me the chance to make beautiful connections and bonds that I wouldn't trade for anything.…

At MCT I began to see that every Marine in the Corps would have an impact on those around him. Although we had earned the title, we still had much to learn about what it meant to be a Marine and the consequences our actions would have. During my first few days at MCT I tried taking the same approach I took at boot camp and remain hidden and skate by, however my combat instructors had a different idea and I was made squad leader. As a squad leader I found new responsibility and soon realized that I would need to change my way of thinking if I were to keep my job, I soon started trying to be the leader my instructors…

The types of things that would be more supportive of my ongoing growth and development as a leader and person would be positive interactions with the people around me. When I work with people that I truly enjoy the company of, it doesn’t matter how grueling or uninteresting the work we are doing is. On the flip side, if I am around people that I don’t enjoy being around for whatever reason, I would hate the work I’m doing- even if it’s very easy. Being around a great supporting cast can really make a difference, especially when you have to spend 8+ hours a day with them- even if the work itself isn’t something you really enjoy. I would say this is because it really stimulates and motivates you.…

One of the many problems that I now face at West Point is my inability to cope with my transition from being an Enlisted Soldier in an elite unit, where I was treated with the same respect as the command staff was given, to being subjected to the disrespect and domination by meritless upperclassmen. While I have been at West Point I have been told that whatever I did in the Army is invalid because I am “not in the Army anymore,” I’m at West Point several times. I have been asked to abandon all of my previously instilled values in place of the ones assigned to me here. There are many contributing factors in my development and the structuring of my personality that enabled me to encounter this problem. In an effort to gain insight about the problem I face I will attempt to apply a developmental and a personality theory that I learned in my Psychology…

Your idea of fulfilling work is to motivate and guide co-workers to achieve their best and to reach common goals in their work by functioning in harmony. You are the sort of person who simply enjoys watching people grow and develop. You are commonly described as patient and encouraging in your dealings with people and a determined self-starter in your own motivation. Since you have a natural ability for inspiring top performances, there’s usually little turnover among your employees, and staff relations are harmonious. At times, however, you may be too soft on people or overly patient when their performance lags. Where people are concerned, you may be too quick to let emotions get in the way of business judgments. Overall, you’re the visionary type, not the day-to-day grinder.…
