How Should Robots Be Dangerous For Humans?
For approximately 50 years, scientist tried to create new species in order to facilitate human life. In this way, first modern robot, Asimo, was produced by Honda in 1986. After this creation, Isaac Asimov made three important rules which are called robotic laws. According to him, robots should only serve humanity and they should not exceed their codes (Ashrafian 32). Nevertheless, some scientists wanted more from robots and they tried to make them conscious. Lots of different ideas are discussed between researchers. Some of them argue that if robots have consciousness, this will be dangerous for humanity. Therefore, robots should be governed by fixed rules. According to them, AI is beneficial for humans and restricting robots and humans while developing AI can cause to stop technological researches. For example, Bostrom supports that thanks to AI, risks of terrorism and wars will be reduced (9). Besides, health industry will be more developed thanks to AI. He argues that especially nanotechnology may help people to increase life expectancy (9). However, AI has got more risks than its benefits. In fact, as it is mentioned at the first body paragraph, future of the humanity is dark. People may suffer from unemployment and due to this issue; one or two generations may have psychological problems. This situation was called as “singularity” by Ray Kurzweil. According to this idea, AI can take over the world. In other words, robotics may take human’s place since they have same abilities with humans. Moreover, AIonAI violence is another significant issue. Transgression of AIonAI may cause to lose moral sense for animals and other people (Ashrafian 34). This can also increase human aggression. Due to this issue, people may not respect to each other and they can be offensive to other people. Thus, wars and terrorism might rapidly increase. Also, human can use robots as a weapon and lots of people may damage from this issue (Nevejans 21). For example, because of AI, people can have super abilities and they can use it to kill people. This may jeopardize human security. Therefore, there is no doubt that AI has got lots of harmful situations for humans.
