They may honor a higher power in which they believe in, but the games aren’t held for that specific reason. Also, there are many more sports that have been added to the list of games over the years. There is even a winter Olympics that is held every four years. Another huge advancement in the Olympics today is that not only can women watch, but they can compete in the events! There are actually several events that are even dedicated to just women. For example, there’s women's gymnastics, swimming, track, rowing, and many, many more. Another thing that’s new is that the Olympics don't have a designated place where the athletes come to and compete every four years as did the ancient Greeks. Today, countries and cities have to draw in order to be able to host the games.
