Undoubtedly illegal immigrants don’t respect our laws. They came in illegally which attests to their disregard for the laws of the USA. According to pewresearch.org, illegal immigrants only “account for 3% of the population yet account for 36.7% of the prison population.” The website also states, that there are 2,220,300 people in the U.S. in jail, and that roughly 815,000 of the jail population is consisted of Illegal Immigrants and the numbers grow each year. Illegals have been known to rape women and murder innocent Americans. The site criminal.findlaw.com states that when someone tries to have non-consensual intercourse by physical force, threat of injury or other duress, that it is rape. So by law they are committing a crime and should be serving jail time. An example of such an instance is Reinol Vergara and Edson Benitez agreed to being guilty of second degree murder of a 90 year old Michigan man. Reinol and Edson left the scene and let the man die of blood loss. The two men were eventually found and convicted. Illegal immigrants endanger the life of Americans. The issue is that most of them don’t care if they go to jail because they get food, water and shelter for free. For many of them being in prison is a better life than what they’ve had in Mexico or Central America. It should be noted, illegal aliens remove jobs that American citizens would use.
For every job they take, it takes away an opportunity for a legal citizen to have income and have a better life. The website http://cis.org says, “the Immigration and Naturalization Service estimates that the illegal alien population grows by 400,000 to 500,000 each year.” A copious amount of the jobs taken by illegal immigrants are jobs unemployed Americans can use. The website tradingeconomics.com says that the unemployment rate in America is 5%. That is roughly 16 million people without jobs, and not taking into consideration the amount of people that have stoppped looking and therefore not a true representation of the unemployment. It would be much higher if those people were included in the numbers. The number could continually lower if Illegals were not taking American jobs. Over 45 million people are living in poverty which is approximately 14.2%. The influx of illegal immigrants entering the country, will only raise the poverty and the unemployment rate. Illegal immigrants cost the United States too much money. The author of the website fairus.org states “this report estimates the annual costs of illegal immigration at the federal, state and local level to be about $113 billion” per year. Also, they cost the average legal American family $1,117 a year according to fairus.org. The United States of America is not able to withstand the social and economical burden of Illegals. With the growing number entering the U.S. illegally, it will eventually lead to the downfall of the U.S.
economy. One myth that people cling to is that Illegal Immigrants help the U.S. economy. It has been proven in many studies that illegal immigrants do not help the U.S. economy. President Barack Obama has created 8 million jobs over his 8 years in office, averaging around one million jobs a year states ijr.com, many jobs are taken each year by Illegal immigrants. So the legal citizens are only receiving a fraction of the jobs a year compared to the million jobs they could be receiving. The unemployment rate could be dropping at a significant rate thus America’s economy would recover. As can be seen, the United States has a significant issue dealing with illegal immigrants. They cost the U.S. $113 billion, which is outrageous. They account for 36.7% of the U.S. prison population and take an exorbitant amount jobs a year from legal citizens. It also burdens the US citizen with higher taxes to pay for their medical, their processing fees if arrested and court costs, etc... They do not help our economy, but hurt it. The United States of America needs to secure its border to stop illegal aliens from entering illegally.
