In this paper I will be discussing the importance in learning CPR & First Aid to a healthcare worker. There are so many reasons why the healthcare worker should learn these two things. The healthcare worker will never know day to day what kind of situation they will be put in. They will need to be able to handle any and all situations that they may come across as a healthcare worker.
The Importance in learning CPR & First Aid to a Healthcare Worker
CPR and First Aid is very important to learn for a healthcare worker. CPR is the abbreviation for cardiopulmonary resuscitation. CPR is a procedure used to keep the heart pumping and oxygen flowing until emergency care arrives (Tyler, 200). First Aid is where help is given to a sick or injured person until full medical treatment is available. First Aid and CPR is very important to the healthcare worker in so many ways and I plan to explain these reasons in my paper. First Aid and CPR are very important to know in the healthcare field. Nurses, doctors, and etc. are around very sick people all day every day and no one will ever know what the next second will bring with a patient (Drezner, Courson, Roberts, Mosesso, 2007). Healthcare workers could save a patient’s life just by preforming CPR until the right help and equipment show up on scene. Healthcare workers also have the ability to act fast in a serious situation. So many people go to the hospital every day for pain in their chest. Pain in the chest is a very serious pain to have. The patient could be suffering from a heart attack and no one would know and then need CPR done to keep the heart beating. So there for any patient can have a cardiac arrest or even might have to have CPR preformed due to choking. First Aid is also just as important. Healthcare workers need to be able to know how to handle excessive bleeding or broken limbs. Just so that the patient does not occur more injuries in the
