This book seemed like it could be very educational in the world of public speaking. The book is written by Leil Lowndes who I have seen appear on TV more than once conducting interviews. All of her written work has to do with connecting with people so I knew that by reading this book, it would be good for a report like this, and for my own personal skills. When I opened this book and saw how the pages and chapters were set up, I knew for sure that this book was the one I wanted to use. When I opened the book and looked at the content of the chapters in the table of contents, I was surprised to see so many topics being covered. The book is for improving conversations that are to be had on an everyday basis. Just like the title says, it is for anyone, because Lowndes covers any situation that literally anyone could encounter anytime, anyplace ranging from phone conversations, to mingling with new people in a crowd, to giving you advice on how to be the “social butterfly” at a party. I realized that this book was to contain a lot of useful information. This book has 9 parts with many chapters in each part. The chapters are more like mini chapters, each of them giving you a different technique to use and an example of the situation you can use it in. The first part of the book is all about non-verbal communication. To Lowndes, this is the most important part of a conversation; and I agree. She goes into detail discussing eye contact and facial expressions. A lot can be learned from looking at someone’s face while they are talking. After reading this part of the book, the information will be embedded into my subconscious and I’m sure it’ll be hard to let that slip away. The next major topic she discusses is conversation starters, what to say after you say “hi.” In this section of the book sub topics such as resuscitating a dying conversation, how
