“Don’t become a mere recorder of fact, but try to penetrate the mystery of their origin”(Ivan Pavlov). My fascination with psychology grows ever stronger as I learn more about forensic psychology. I believe forensic psychology is a lucrative career that many will want to pursue. In order to assess my claim I have divided this paper into four main sections. The first section defining forensic psychology and its origins. The second section to inform about the various roles of a forensic psychologist and what they do. The third section informs of the requirements needed to become a forensic psychologists. Finally, the fourth section gives the job outlook for forensic psychology. They also “ present their opinions about defendants based on their professional evaluations” (Echaore-McDavid 1). Even more “Many forensic psychologist devote time to teaching classes, training workshops, and write articles and books” (Echaore-McDavid 1). According to forensic psychology edu one must first complete “a bachelor’s degree in psychology with a focus on criminology or criminal justice, or a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or criminology with a focus on psychology” (How to become a forensic psychologist 2). The next step being “a master’s degree, followed by a doctoral degree” or “a dual master’s/doctoral degree” (How to become a forensic psychologist 3). Once achieving a degree forensic psychology edu states that “state licensure as a clinical psychologists requires not only the completion of an APA- accredited doctoral program, but at least two years of organized, sequential, and supervised professional experience, one year of which must be a pre-doctoral internship” (How to become a forensic psychologist 5). Stated from the same article “the final step to becoming a state-licensed clinical psychologist and working in the forensic specialty involves applying for state licensure as a clinical psychologist with your state board of psychology and taking the required examinations for licensure” (How to become a forensic psychologist 5).
