1. What are the 5 principles of the ethics code? Provide a definition of each and the intent of each?
- A. Beneficence and nonmaleficence- This principle represents a psychologist dual obligation to strive to do good and avoid harm. It intends to guard against harm to anyone that you come in contact with.
- B. Fidelity and Responsibility- Displays our faithfulness from one human being to another. It also displays that we as psychologist have an obligation to keep promises, and to responsible practices and teachings.

What are the pros and cons of providing emergency care of suicidal individuals?
The pros to providing emergency care to suicidal individuals is that the patient will have a reduction of the risk of suicide. The client will be deescalated and stable.
The cons to providing emergency psychological services to a suicidal individual is the risk of potential harm by not providing the correct interventions and being underqualified.
12. Ethical Standard 2.01 provides lengthy discussion of “Boundaries of Competence”, identifying six areas for psychologist to adhere. Describe three of these areas as the impact they have on the practice of psychology, providing examples for each.
- “Psychologist with Doctoral degrees form programs devoted to research should not provide therapy to individuals without obtaining additional education or training in practice fields of psychology.” This is impactful because it allows only those who have had extensive training in interpersonal skills to work directly with people. This area ensures that, one is not simply living and practicing under the umbrella of “psychologist” while not providing adequate care.

Describe the difference between a clinical and a forensic psychologist. Identify ethical pitfalls that may befall each type of psychologist in their practice.
Forensic psychologist- The bases of their evaluation is to assist a judge, jury, or administrative hearing officer with a legal question.
Clinical- their goal is to help the client/patient adjust positively to life circumstances.
14. The psychologist faces many issues in the presented vignette. The first is the breach in confidentiality between the clinician and patients. Acknowledging the issue could potentially identify the patient. The psychologist also has the responsibility of providing an informal resolution to the ethical issue. The issue potentially harms the profession by instilling distrust of the public. The psychologist could provide discuss the violation with the offending psychologist to confirm if the misconduct has occurred and recommend ways to end it.
