How To Write A Reflective Essay About My Clinical Experience
The first week of my clinical experience was quite interesting. While it was under the same umbrella as pediatric nursing, it was slightly different from the pediatric clinical rotation. For instance, the children who came to the nurse’s office were not sick enough to the point of requiring hospitalization, and some of them just wanted to talk. Surprisingly, the desire some of the kids had to sit to talk did not seem to stem from them wanting to be out of class; however, that could have been part of it as well.
Most of the issues addressed were those involving minor abdominal pain (a few of the students had episodes of vomiting while in the classroom) and headaches. There were also many issues of scratches, bumps and bruises during the periods

To accomplish my goal I did some refreshment my nursing skill and producers before clinical. I reviewed my nursing skill and procedure to refresh my brain about how to administer parental injection, the right site for IM and S/C, and size and length of needles. I reviewed my health and physical assessment videos and review my nursing skill notes how to assess head to toe and pain scale, Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) and CIWA Scale which helped me a lot to refresh my skills. Also, I looked up my previous clinical worksheets which reminded me some nursing diagnosis and…

I believe I worked on your floor last semester because I recall such a change being discussed. I did not realize the hospital is interested in changing vital signs time for the entire hospital! I can see how moving the time to 0600 would delay the night PCTs from finishing their work and the day nurses from starting their shift. Collecting vitals and blood sugars while managing meal times and shift change sounds like a time-consuming task. However, I can see this as a potentially effective change since the day nurses would receive the most recent vitals and updates about their patients. I am curious about how long the hospital plans for to test the change on the unit. Perhaps over time the unit would adjust to the change? It appears fortunate…

When people hear “pre-medicine,” they think of majors like biology, chemistry, biomedical engineering, health sciences, and other popular majors. I chose chemistry as my major, not only because I wanted to stand out not blend in, but also because I am aware of my strengths and weaknesses. I have always performed better in chemistry than in biology. I prefer challenges and I love the way chemistry challenges me. I am going into freshmen year with the knowledge of the level of difficulty that my major encompasses. I need to remain focused and work hard in order to succeed and achieve a solid gap of at least 3.6 for admission to medical school.…

I believe that becoming a pediatric nurse is an opportunity to interact with patients, treat their illnesses or condition and is a job in which every day is different from the one before. Becoming a Pediatric Nurse is a way to interact with patients of all ages, I adore working with children and a pediatric nurse is someone who interacts with children on a daily basis. These nurses treat several illnesses and should not be intimidated because this could cause the patient to panic. Pediatric Nurses are to be encouraged in any situation and make the child feel secure and carefree. Nurses will usually have a routine, but several situations may occur in which they need to act rapidly. They should be prepared for anything life threatening or…

I was very fortunate to get hands-on clinical experience here in Internal Medicine and Cardiology for four weeks. Apart from history taking with examination in both outpatient and inpatient settings with the case presentation in morning rounds and regular daily follow-up of patients, I had the chance to observe sleep studies in detail, how we practically look for any abnormality in each stage of sleep really fascinated me. Most exciting part of this rotation was getting familiarized with electronic medical records, which took me some time to adjust, but I was quite comfortable in it by the end of my second week here. Owing to my interest in Cardiology I gave a presentation on valvular heart diseases and words of encouragement and praise really…

Over the course of this year in English, I think my writing process has excelled the most along with my overall writing. In the past, I have used similar techniques to develop a final essay, but, this year, I have begin to rely more heavily on planning out and slowly chipping away at my essays and papers. I believe also that because of this planning the strength of my writing as a whole has grown. Personally, I do not think that I grew in my vocabulary usage. Overall this year, I grew as a writer in ways that I would not have predicted.…

During a two week mission trip to Trujillo, Peru I volunteered in a medical clinic. My life purpose; becoming a nurse, was revealed to me while comforting children with distended abdomens due to malnutrition and contaminated water, as well as elders with crippling Rheumatoid Arthritis. This heartbreaking experience, gave me a cultured view of global healthcare needs. My goal as a nurse is to bring joy and comfort to patients. A girl from my highschool was diagnosed with stage 4 Rhabdomyosarcoma at age 14 and throughout her treatment, she spoke so highly of the nurses that made an impact in her short life. I wish to provide this kind of meaningful compassion to a patient one day.…

Week six was another amazing week that brought new experiences to my plate. On Wednesday evening, my clinical instructor and I ran Sr. Barn Buddies. This is a group of six teenagers that have autism. These individuals are great, but need help with appropriate social interactions and some personal care. Four boys and two girls attend the one and a half hour session every Wednesday evening. I was not really sure how to feel about doing this session because some of them can have behaviors and they are twice my size. These kids were awesome! They each seem to be somewhere different on the spectrum and all have something to offer to one another. These kids need help with socializing with each other, when they are at school or in the community. We worked on a project together, making sail boats that we could have a discussion about. If one of them needed help with part of it, they had to ask nicely. They could ask Duane or myself for help or ask one another for help. It was pretty neat to see them ask questions, offer advice and for myself to witness the positive interaction throughout the evening.…

The thought of fulfilling my purpose in life by becoming a pediatric nurse compels me every day. A career in nursing means that I will be at the forefront of making a difference in my patients’ life mentally and physically through care, respect, and compassion. In the health care setting, I have been limited but very appreciative for every experience. In the past, I have shadowed as a part of my high school curriculum, volunteered at my former pediatric office, and interned at Walgreens as a pharmacy technician trainee, which I later gained my national and state pharmacy technician license.…

My overall clinical experience was an amazing opportunity! I learned so many helpful things over the past few months at my placement that I will be sure to take with me throughout my future nursing career. During my experience, I was able to see a writer's workshop first hand, as well as many other subject lessons. I always thought it would be hard to implement writing into many subject areas, but my teacher showed me that it was possible. The class that I was with was a little troublesome, but they got the job done when it came down to it. My teacher displayed wonderful classroom management, which is another thing that I worry about as a perspective teacher. She was able to keep the students engaged in the lessons and keep them on task. A few of the students had minor behavior problems, but it was nothing that she could not handle. My teacher was an organized mess, which is almost identical to me! It was a great experience to be placed with a teacher that was so much like me when it came to organization.…
