In the words of that article, “Lt. McMillan, who’s been police officer for 13 years, can’t believe that police-community relations have reached such a point that a simple gesture would resonate so widely.” I feel the same, Lieutenant. This is just stupid. Granted, it’s not such a simple gesture. He could’ve just waited for the guy to calm down. But, still. The police are supposed to be the protectors.
