How To Write An Essay On What I Learned In English Class

Taking English wasn’t fun back in high school, but several years later when faced with writing my first essay in college it has been an experience. Whereas all writers have their own individuality, learning basic English rules will help your writing skills, given that I am a better writer for taking English 101. This class has impacted my writing skills by teaching me new skills on pre-writing and first drafts. My biggest issue with writing comes from not being a strong reader. I miss important details when reading books or lengthy papers. When I learned how to make outlines and how to write a thesis statement it helped me organize my thoughts from what I read better. I would say writing thesis statements has been my biggest improvement.
I can remember always correcting my family and friends as they talked. They always said “What are you an English major” I always just laughed. Then as time went on and texting came more popular using acronyms and abbreviations I fell into the trap of talking and writing like my teenager. This class has challenged me to use correct punctuation and more intelligent word choices. After writing three essays for this class I have noticed that my mistakes involve punctuation. My first essay had a few comma errors, and a run-on sentence. My second essay again comma errors. My third essay only one comma error so I sure did improve my punctuation by slowing down and reading it repeatedly until I feel that its correct. The only other mistake I made was on the literacy essay. I struggled putting my thoughts on paper and rushed the ending because the paper had already drained me by the time I reached the conclusion. I felt this was the hardest one to write. Having to read a book and write a compare or contrast essay and have it not sound like a book report was a struggle I was just writing words to fill up the paper. My grade also showed the way that I
