The assignments that I feel most expanded my thought process were the assignments pertaining to ethos, logos, and pathos. My interpretation of writing styles were very black and white and I had not considered the complexity that could be involved, even within one piece of writing. One skill that I saw an improvement in throughout the course was the ability to evaluate a text. Prior to this class I would read a text and be able to decipher the subject matter or main points, but now at the end of the quarter, I have obtained the ability to not only be able to summarize, but to be able to analyze writing styles and determine reasoning for their usage. I have also seen a large improvement in my research skills. I’ve learned that choosing the best source for my writing does not have to be the source with the most information, but rather the source that best supports my argument and/or analysis. An additional skill that I’ve adapted assists in nearly any assignment you could write, which is the ability to revise with consideration to your audience. I generally would write an assignment without much consideration to who my audience was, but throughout this course I’ve learned that it is difficult to properly portray your stance if you don’t write to whom you are trying to portray it
