How William A Boy Who Created Electric Wind
William: the extraordinary boy who created “electric wind,” is indeed quite the character. A poor child who was raised on a farm with little education, had a dream to make the lives of others easier and less expensive. He created an idea, and with a little bit of curiosity and science books, he was able to turn it into a reality. I had two goals: to remain in school and to build a bigger windmill to irrigate my family’s crops, so we’d never go hungry again (Kamkwamba and Mealer pg. 269). Throughout all the teasing and doubt, William stayed confident that one day he would prove people wrong with his invention, and that’s precisely what he did. William was born with the attribute to work hard and never give up on his dreams, even when he was deemed a “madman.” With a little bit of curiosity, confidence, and hard work, William was able to create something magical. After dropping out of school William was determined to continue his education without the help of teachers. This is when he started reading books at the library, and borrowing notes from his friend Gilbert for guidance. While he felt he learned an immense amount of material, he still fell behind the other students in every …show more content…
Even with his little amount of education, William proceeded to study and learn about things that interested him. For the next three weeks, I began a rigorous course in independent study, visiting the library in the mornings, and spending the afternoons reading in the shade (Kamkwamba and Mealer pg. 161). Without the help of school to guide his studies, William became dependant on the library and books. He spent all his time expanding his knowledge and researching new things that sparked his interests. His hardworking tendencies lead him to pursue his dream of creating electricity for his community. Some aspects of inventions go without notice but Williams dedication to his work, did not go
