If Japan had given women more rights, starting right back in the Shogun Japan times, women would be more ahead now. Samurai women would have been able to help defend their land, children and Japan in itself and women would not be treated like they are. If women had more rights than what they do in Japan, then maybe men would have to complete more household jobs than what they do, For instance, Women wouldn’t be expected to clean, cook and look after the children by themselves, which is what happened in Shogun Japan, and is the way for most still in Japan.
Peasant women in Shogun Japan were allowed to work with men, although these jobs showed some rough equality. Some women even had some control over decisions that took hold in the household. Peasant women were also allowed to divorce, although once they were divorced they were not allowed to remarry again. As times in Japan moved on, the idea that women were to be submissive and obedient like the samurai women was adopted, the women in Japan had most of their rights taken away and lost much of their independence. …show more content…
Samurai Women – Samurai women were trained just as men were, but they rarely fought next to each other. They main reason that they were taught to fight was because they were need to protect their own land, homes and children when they were under attack. They were also taught so that they could bring their sons up with plenty of samurai knowledge, ready to become one themselves.
