Howard University Contract Case Study
In the end, Howard University was penalized for their -renewal of a contract due in the timeframe stated in their manual. According to Kaplin and Lee (2014) deadlines are common in faculty contracts and often result in legal cases. Insituions govern by implementing an internal system, or in other words, an internal law which outlines how the university will use authority, rights, procedures, and various rules to regulate the institution. This system allow the university to govern itself and includes three source of law – institutional rules and regulations, institutional contracts, and academic custom and usage. In regards to this case, it included all three of these policies (Kaplin and Lee, 2014, p. 3).
