Howard Zinn's Arguments On The Mexican American War
Howard Zinn argued that the Mexican American war was unpopular, not supported by most Americans and the Mexican American war was fought mainly for the purposes of expansion
Polk wanted California for America before anyone else could get it and many didn't want war, but war was the only answer to Polk
This passage shows that the soldiers didn’t want to fight the war any more, they even regretted signing up for the war, and they all wanted to just go home.

    Ironically, the cause of the Mexican – American War was due to the politics of the U.S. President at the time, President Tyler. Tyler wanted to achieve a second term in presidency, but his name among the American people was not as well known in contrast to his opponent James K. Polk. President Tyler contemplated ways to make himself a more popular candidate, and came to a conclusion that would essentially foreshadow the coming of the war. He wanted his name to be associated with the thought of “American Expansion”, unfortunately he would never get that chance officially because he lost the election.
