Introduction
In line with a study on Human Resource Practices and Organizational
Performance in the Textile and Fashion Industry, conducted by Ms Suruchi
Mittar, a research was done using questionnaires as a media.
The questionnaires try to relate the companies’ organizational performance to their attitude and implementation of HR Practices. The 17 interviewed companies were exclusively export houses in the fashion and textile industry with an annual turnover of 20 crores or more. Most of them are located in
Gurgaon, as can be taken from the table below displaying the companies which were involved in the research. The companies are also shown in the bubble graph on the following page, where they are positioned and compared to each other according to their size, i.e. turnover in relation to total number of middle level employees.

In the research, consideration was also given to the parting opinions of HR
Managers and CEOs (or any other senior level manager) on the matter of
HRM. Therefore, each company was provided with two similar questionnaires whereof one had to be filled by the HR Manager and the other preferably by the CEO of the company. This method enabled a 360° evaluation of the companies’ HR policies and practices.
