Every year in the U.S 27,000 people are diagnosed with cancer caused by HPV(1CDC September 30th,2015, December 28th,2015) This sexually transmitted disease has the potential to greatly affect the Reproductive health of women and catastrophic affects on men as well. These statistics are alarming and a cause for concern. Increasing public awareness is needed to effectively combat this disease.

Currently, there are two prominent vaccines available used for early prevention measures. Gardasil and Cervarix which are approved by the Federal Drug Administration (FDA) for use. These vaccines however, come with concerns related to well documented side effects. Despite these well documented side effects,parents are encourage to discuss with their healthcare provider if this is safe for their children due to the recommendation, that girls at the age of 9-13 and young boys beginning at the age of 11-12.This is thought to benefit girls by reducing the spread of infection(CDC December 2,2015)
