Human Service Reflection

Starting from the history of the human service profession, I learned in the beginning of the course that the human service profession was formed from religious traditions, which are the earliest foundation for the profession. The religious backgrounds involved were Judaism, Islam and Christianity. The most important thing about the field of human service due to my participation in class is you have to be a dedicated worker in order to pursue the job, I learned that the individuals would visit peoples houses go to their neighborhood to have meetings about what has been going on with them and although the pay is not phenomenal the feeling of knowing you helped or changed someone’s life makes it all worth it. Next is the importance of advocacy. Advocacy is something I knew about due to having to advocate for myself or my grade during high school so it was something
You also explained that if you did not do that for him he could have ended up in that terrible jail, which could have possibly turned him into the terrible person they were painting him to be. When I heard that story it opened my eyes to how important advocacy is because it sometimes like in that example it can completely change a person’s life. Another thing I learned is the different groups certain family dynamics fall under. I also obtained the knowledge of what category my personal family is under. Being in the class i came to the realization as to why my parents did not allow me to go away to college and the behavior/ tradition my family has, other families have also. This enlightened me to know that it is not just my parents with these beliefs other families also tell their girl children that they cannot go away for college or they cannot move out unless they are getting married along with many other
