Film Critique Instructions
Introduction to Forensic Psychology (PSY 2050)
Spring, 2013 (2012-3)
Submission Dates: Critique 1 – Due by 5:40 p.m. on Wednesday, 1/30
Critique 2 – Due by 5:40 p.m. on Wednesday, 3/27
Form of Submission: Critiques must be TYPED (10-12 point font ONLY) AND HANDED IN at the beginning of the class period assigned (DO NOT EMAIL) in order to be considered as “on time” submissions
Your Task:
Gain access to and fully and critically watch and evaluate TWO of the following films (one film per film critique). On a separate page, re-type the following questions / items and then FULLY answer each question IN SENTENCE / PARAGRAPH FORM (NO BULLETING) based on the film(s) you chose to watch. Each of your typed responses should immediately follow the respective question / item (for each film chosen). You should have one full response for each “item” identified (e.g., you should have SEPARATE responses typed for items 3, 4 and 5 for each film chosen). Each of your critiques must be a MINIMUM of 2 “complete” typed pages and should not exceed 4 full pages of text. In each of your critiques you will be responsible for addressing how accurately the selected films’ portrayal of psychology and / or law topics reflects “reality” (e.g., in terms of forensic psychological practices, methodology, theory, research findings, etc.). You will have the opportunity to earn up to 30 points for each film selected (or a total possible 60 points) for the course based on your demonstrated critical assessment of the film and responses to the questions below at my discretion.
To be eligible to earn the full points available per critique, you must follow the directions outlined in the task explicitly and must respond to each question / item below fully as stated.
