IT WAS THE VERY MODEL OF THE modern marriage breakup. Paul, forty-one years old, told his wife, Pamela, forty-two, and their three children that he had fallen in love with another woman, Martha, and wanted to marry her. Paul and Martha were soon engaged and Pam and Paul separated amicably, splitting the custody of the kids, and living a block away from one another in Calgary's Mount Royal neighbourhood to better facilitate the sort of social intermingling that modern divorcees consider civilized. Pam, a brisk, blonde public-relations…

The center of the Seam has been decorated with roses. Primroses. My sister, she should be the bridesmaid, not Greasy Sae’s granddaughter. Buttercup appears out of nowhere, but he’s also been groomed for the occasion. I see the rest of Peeta’s family come by, and Haymitch, sober for the second time ever, comes to be the officiant. My ancestors came in my country of America in chains. Take a look at me now. One more look. Once again perhaps. I see Barack almost everyday, praying as a Muslim in the Oval Office and around the Beautiful House. Also, all the years we have knowing each other, he has been praying as a Christian as I am. I could not be more proud to say, if any Muslim or Christian leader in our wonderful nation, the United States of America, or around the world can run his or her country like he has been running for almost a decade, we will all be living with the Angels in heaven on Earth.
