“You can’t learn a science unless you know what it’s all about,” thus hypnopaedia is not used on intellectual education in this community, but is instead, used on moral education. This is because moral education is ‘irrational’ and would not need much thinking to follow it. It is also something that is needed in this community whose motto and beliefs are of stability, and the smooth flow of society. The episode with Tommy suggests that, although hypnopaedia is able to make one memorise things easily in their sleep, he/she would not be able to apply it to their learning; they are unable to think of it in a rational way, or find a connection between what they memorised, and the knowledge and information given in what they memorised. Thus, intellectual education is not something that can be learnt through hypnopaedia, as it requires knowledge and rational thinking, however, moral education can be taught through hypnopaedia, as it does not require rationality, and it benefits the World State; it gives them the power to control everybody in society, making them think and believe what they want them to.
