Hypothyroidism In Dogs
This disease process is more common in dogs but will sometimes be seen in Cats and horses. Hypothyroidism normally effects middle aged dogs between 4-10 years, and often occurs in medium to large breeds, Golden retrievers; Irish Setters and Dobermans are often affected, it is rare to see this disease in small or toy breeds.
There does not appear to be a sex predilection with this disease process however spayed female dogs tend to be at higher risk compared to an entire female.
