I Am Mrs Baker Monologue
I'm Mrs. Baker, a narrator. I was an Olympic gold medalist, and now I teach at Camillo Junior High in Long Island. This is a story of a student’s experience with his idol, Mickey Mantle. It was a cold December afternoon with the wind blowing rapidly, and it was finally the night for Holling’s play at The Shakespeare Company’s Holiday Extravaganza. I spent weeks preparing for the big performance with Holling, working on his interpretation and passion for his lines. I don’t think he has been focusing though because right after the play, his favorite baseball player, Mickey Mantle, is signing autographs at the Baker’s Sporting Emporium. “ Mrs. Baker, will I have enough time to see Mantle?” Holling asked. “I don’t know for sure,” I responded just …show more content…
My students and I were all there in the front rows to support Holling in his play. I couldn’t believe that his parents weren’t there to support him! The audience was in awe of the performance and I couldn’t contain my emotions watching a Shakespeare play in action. I was the first to stand up and everyone followed, giving him a standing ovation. I was so proud of Holling playing Ariel in his bright yellow tights. After the play was over, Holling darted out of the theater. He was in such a rush to go see Mickey Mantle that he didn’t even change his costume. Somehow, Holling was able to convince the bus driver to give him a ride to the emporium before I could even ask him to take him. The temperature had dropped about ten degrees in the last hour and now it was freezing. I got in my car and drove down to the emporium to see what was going on there. This was my first time seeing the improvements my brother-in-law had recently made, and it looked so much better.
