I Fall Under Parent-Centered Paradigm Analysis
The paradigm that I see myself falling under is the Parent-Centered. The reason I feel like I fall under parent-centered is because I feel like I have to make my dad happy with my grades and my diabetes. I know I do but sometimes I don't feel good enough even though it is. The negatives that fall under Parent-Centered paradigm is always trying to make your parents happy. The thing I can do to overcome this paradigm is try talking to my dad more and figuring out a goal? I don’t think this paradigm is influenced by the culture today because every family is different and expects different things.

According to Friedman, Bowden, and Jones (2003), because the family unit is the most rudimentary unit of today’s society, “…it is the social institution that has the most marked effect on its members” (p. 4). For most, family is the most basic and lasting social connection. Family is also “…the fabric of our day-to-day lives and shapes the quality of our lives by influencing our outlook on life, our motivations, our strategies for achievement, and our styles for coping with adversity” (Fontaine, 2009, p. 37). A person’s success or failure in life can be determined by the quantity and the quality of influence the family has had on his or her development.…

The 20th century is more traditional type families where the mother stayed home did motherly duties while the father was out working to provide for his family. Whereas the 21st century is more nontraditional type families because now and in days both parents work and the kids are usually in school or a babysitter watches them till the parents come home. Teens and young adults are engaged in many different conflicts and struggles with their parents regarding various beliefs and values. In the essay “My Fathers Tribal Rule” by Mark Mathabane, he tells of his childhood where his father wanted his way and was not open to change. He wanted to bring his boys up the same way he was raised; Doing many different rituals and obeying all of his father’s household rules. Mathabanes father expected from Mathabane and his brother George, the same as his father did of him. Many times children in their teens and early twenties become engaged in conflict and struggle with their parents regarding personal beliefs and values. This experience is common because children at this age are trying to establish themselves in the world and are learning to think on their own. There are many different things that can cause disagreements but I have found house rules, friends and religion to be some of the most prominent ones.…

The progression from adolescence to adulthood is one of the most complicated periods in one’s life. Naïveté and inexperience become insecurities, and the expectations a family places on children sometimes overwhelm their desire to thrive. Although society likes to paint pictures of perfect family relationships and what they are expected to be, they are more often riddled with trials and tribulations that do not always have a happy ending.…

Women have been viewed as the inferior sex in the domestic sphere for ages and the protagonists in Kate Chopin's “The Story of an Hour” and Charlotte Perkins Gilman’s “The Yellow Wallpaper” are both examples of women suffering in their own marriages. Both protagonists of the stories have their lives ruined through the confinement that they feel. In “The Yellow Wallpaper,” the narrator listens to her husband’s suggestions as she is expected to do, which slowly makes her insane. While in “The Story of an Hour,” the return of the confinement in Mrs. Mallard's life literally kills her. While it is easy to blame the overpowering image of the men in both of these stories for the oppression the protagonists faced, the authors make it clear through…
