“I Stand Here Ironing” is a short story written by Tillie Olsen is written about a nineteen-year-old mother who struggles to raise her oldest daughter along with three other children. In the story, the mother is talking on the phone with a person form Emily’s school while standing up ironing. Emily is the daughter of a nineteen-year-old mom that faced many struggles growing up. In the end, she established herself to be a very strong young woman.
