Two books really inspired me and taught me life lessons that were really meaningful. I Will Always Write Back: How One Letter Changed Two Lives by Caitlin Alifirenka & Martin Ganda was one book that really opened my mind. Seventh-grader Caitlin Alifirenka who lives in Hatfield,Pennsylvania made the life changing decision to choose Zimbabwe,a country in Africa, as the location of her pen-pal. Receiving the letter, Martin Ganda was the first of the scholarly ten kids to get a letter. Through several letters Caitlin and Martin began to learn more about one another, and quickly became best friends. While Caitlin and her family lived a stress-free life, Martin’s family of seven lived a life of poverty, like most families in Zimbabwe. I could surely say that this book is one of my favorite books. This book is definitely a page turner (for me) although it is not action packed. It was astounding to me that this was a true story. After reading this, I noticed how fortunate I was and how much I had. It opened my eyes to see that there are people that have less than me and that I should be helping them. While I could relate to Caitlin about her teenage problems like not being able to find the perfect outfit or obsessing over drama, I really moved me to see how one little assignment could change her life and bring out the true person inside of her. I felt good inside knowing that people like Caitlin are helping the less fortunate and I was reminded that I need to be helping the less fortunate in the world, and even in my community. This book changed how I see the world and what others are going through. On those days that I thought I had it the worst, I was totally wrong, and this book helped me see that. I highly recommend this
