Undeniably, Bill C-51 is necessary to fight against terrorist acts, especially because no one in the world should have to live in fear and worry about their safety. However, even though this bill protects Canadians, it should not do so by violating the rights and freedoms of the people who are being protected. In order for this bill to fulfill its purpose of protecting Canadians without infringing on their rights, it requires improvements that eliminate the imperfections of this bill. The best improvements for this bill is to honour and respect the privacy of citizens and to find an alternative that does not violate the rights and freedom of anybody. A part of the bill that is understandable is the sharing of personal information for possible…

While Canadians are sometimes depicted as a beer drinking, party loving, and rugged in attitude, when in fact they are generally quite reserved and passive. In reality, Canadians have become known for their great humanitarian efforts. Canadians are continually recognized for the way in which they go in after the occurrence of devastation and help the civilian population, of that particular community or country, get back on their feet. An example of this was seen in the Kosovo crisis, when they brought refugees to Canada and provided for them while there was war in their homeland. They are also known for their peacekeeping ways. They are slow and cautious when entering battles and are reluctant to choose sides between nations in acts of inhumanity and crime. People from all around the world come to Canada, looking for refuge. They have come to see Canada as a peaceful country, where they will have a…

The invention of the atomic bomb certainly brought extreme fear into Canadians' lives after revealing its astonishing power through the massive destructions done at Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Although most people did not speak of this fear but it can be clearly seen throughout the cold war when the arms race between the two super powers at the time, the United States and the Soviet Union, split the world into two halves. On one side, there was the communist countries allied with the Soviet Union, and the other side was obviously led by the United States with a number of anti-communist countries. Although Canada did not have any direct connection to the nuclear arms race, we were certainly very scared that some day the nuclear war would come into reality therefore destroying the world. In preparation for this, Canadians tried peacekeeping as well as building hideaways to protect ourselves away from the mass destruction that might come true sometime in the not distant future.…
