New attraction - recommendation for winning entry

I believe the Sunken Ship Museum - Yangjiang, South China should win the competition. It is unique, and has a huge commercial potential.

This report outlines the key features of the new attraction that we feel should win the competition. It gives reasons why the project was selected and explains why the new attraction should be commercial success.

Features
1. Unique. The museum is located underwater. it is the only one of its kind in Asia, and one of the few in the world.
2. Historical and cultural. The main exhibit is a ship with its 800-year-old history and culture.
3. Dreamlike. The old ship is 24 metres below the surface of the sea. There is a transparent underwater corridor for visitors to walk through and see the ship. What's more exciting is that they can see that the wood is still taking on a brownish color, which shows that it has not carbonized over the past 800 years.
4. Enjoyable. Visitors can enjoy the precious art object which have been taken from the ship.

The museum is the first theme museum in the world to reveal to visitors its process of underwater archaeology. Such a unique way of protection and display is the first time in similar museums of the world, and it has a positive effect in boosting the curiosity of people. In addition visitor will have an enjoyable and unforgettable experience. There is no doubt that visitor will be happy to spend money going to the Sunken Ship Museum. And we will earn a lot of money. These are exactly the purposes that you provide finance for the project.

Museums bring history and culture to life by allowing individuals to gain unique hands on experience that is different from learning from textbooks or television. One can never know the reality behind certain artifacts and art until they see it for themselves. The perception of viewing a multitude of replicas and pictures such as the Mona Lisa can be dramatically different from witnessing the painting up close. The interactive experience allows one to engage and immerse ourselves back into time to learn about the truth of different cultures and traditions. The intent of museums is not purely to enthrall historians and scholars, but to create an environment which is welcoming to all individuals. While historians argue that museums…

The layout is simple with interactive elements and follows their specific theme well. The overall point of this exhibit is to provide examples of how people were able to show their interests through the images on their cigar containers and also the items that may have been left inside them. One problem I had with the exhibit was the absence of information for some of the artifacts because I feel that more historical information and reasoning to go along with the pictures of these cigar containers would be beneficial to the exhibit. That being said, the introduction video shows this exhibits curator, Sheldon Posen, describes one of the containers that they had acquired and describes how that one container sparked the drive for the exhibit itself. He goes on to explain how he recognized the image on the container of “Jumbo” the elephant and his trainer, which was the elephant that popularised the word jumbo as being used for something or someone that is big or huge, and it provided the location of St. Thomas, Ontario as well. Sheldon Posen then went on to research the connection between Jumbo and St. Thomas, Ontario and found that Jumbo died in St. Thomas, Ontario on it’s way to a circus along a railroad with his trainer and another elephant . Jumbo noticed on oncoming train and tried to protect his trainer and fellow…

This museum tells about the depressing memories of the holocaust and its genocide. This museum in hopes of showing you these memories with real found items for instance; dolls, diaries, books, clothes, & etc. When seeing these items it is really freighting knowing that most of these items belonged to children especially the diary pages that were found. Speaking of Diaries of children, there was a Anne Frank Exhibit, showcasing everything about this young girl and her family. Everything told there is usually from her diary, because her diary had so much great detail about what was going on in her life. When she first started writing, she was only 13 years old, and thanks to the nazies, Anne and other children never got to experience growing up and have a good life. The holocaust exhibit was the last exhibit we saw in the museum. It showcases what victims went through while the holocaust was first taking place, such as propaganda against jews and offensive comics also to the…

Today on our exciting mission we discovered and recovered many new artifacts that have been underwater in the Gulf of Mexico since the 1800s from one of the shipwrecks. The moment we had come across the object i could not have waited for the ultrasound test to come out on whether or not it was a shipwreck. We have found many incredibly amazing ceramic plates, platters, bowls, medicine, and food storage bottles of many shapes and colors that are in really well conditions considering their state. I was amazed by our findings deep underwater and how long they have been hidden from the outside world. Overall our discoveries this day have made a huge change and turn around in shipwreck history because we had found more than one ship buried at the…

A wide access slope leads to a Hall of Expositions, which has a capacity for sixty people. Two doors lead to the viewing gallery, through which can be seen theGuanabara Bay, Rio de Janeiro, and Sugarloaf Mountain. The saucer-shaped modernist structure, which has been likened to a UFO, is set on a cliffside, at the bottom of which is a beach. In the film Oscar Niemeyer, an architect committed to his century,[1] Niemeyer is seen flying over Rio de Janeiro in a UFO which then lands on the site, suggesting this to be the origin of the museum.…

My favourite part of the exhibit is the replica of the Rosetta stone. It was believed to be carved around 196 BC and was discovered in 1799 in Rashid, in the Nile region. There are 3 types of languages – hieroglyphic (Egyptian), Demetic (Egyptian), and Greek. The Greeks helped in translating the hieroglyphic symbols and explaining the Egyptian archaeological finds. The first cabinet had a collection of petrie clay pots. The next cabinet had an interesting display of funerary equipment consisting of alabaster boxes and Canopic jars containing mummified hawk remains styled with Egyptian god’s heads. The descriptions explain the uses of the objects and materials such as the flax linen that was used for textiles to write on and wear. On the opposite wall was a mural called The Book of the Dead which depicts in a frieze of figures the judgement of a pharaoh. Surrounding the paintings was a collection of ancient spells. The explorer Sir Flinder discovered King Tutankhamun’s tomb in the Valley of the…
